LEADING AND BLEEDING.

Leadership is a great responsibility that only those who have given themselves to be rightly prepared are truly fit to take up the task; hence, it's not a position for frivolity.

We know there are various leaders, but here my references are to true leaders.

Leaders doesn't emerge over the night, they've gone through building processes over the years through which they've had series of tearing and mending, rejection and acceptance, discouragement and upliftment, tears and happiness, agony and relief, yet they kept the focus in their hearts knowing the scars at each checkpoint is a healing balm to those following.

  •   Leaders are not self-centred, such that even in their downtime, they find courage to strengthen the feeble knees.
They go all out with so much compassion and intentionality, with no sense of gain to attend to as many in need of help.

  • These are the ones whose paths are blood-marked, yet with consistency, have been proven by endurance and perseverance.
They bleed as they lead, yet with enthusiasm which oftentimes prevents their followers from seeing the blood trail.

  • They are much in need of succour, yet everyone sees them to be all sufficient.

They're not put off by their imperfection rather work on their deficiencies with a willingness to embrace correction, yet everyone sees them to be all perfect.

  • The hallmark of leadership is sacrifice beyond seeking reward in return.

They are hungry and thirsty, yet will not forbear to give the last meal to a follower who is also in need.

They've had sleepless nights and needed rest, yet at the call, their being pop out of bed to respond.

  • Their personal burdens no one cares to know, yet everyone is casting burdens at their feet, expecting accurate discernment and solutions.

  • In their weepings, no one to hand them a wiper, yet the streams of tears from others they cease not to divert into joy.
  • They've been punctured here and there, even by the ones they lead, with no one to bind and soothe their wounds, yet cease not to attend to a wounded follower.

  • They're not after the acquisition of affluence, rather their priority is right influence. They don't keep others below them but endeavour to bring them up.

Their life is made plain before all, encouraging some with their successes and warning others with their shortfalls.

Many more can still be said about these valiant personalities, but we stop.

To every follower out there, every leader needs your care, support, and submission and not just your woes.

Of a truth, they've deemed it fit to take up the yoke, but always remember they're men of like passion as you are and desire to be helped as well.

Never think they're not proactive about your situations.

No! They've never at once gone on vacation; aside from having others to attend to, they're being meticulous about the best decision and approach to your matter to give you the best outcome, and not such that will lead to more damage.

Know that you're a follower today, tomorrow you'll be in a leadership position, learn adequately from your leaders and the trainings, and prepare for the demands lest you become incapable in your time.

Finally, to the amazing leaders out there, I know you understood your calling well and you'll do all things to make it count. I have just a word for you, amidst all the engagements, please do find time to attend to yourself, because if you don't and you run out of strength and substance, the so-called followers will find greener pastures.

"Don’t stare at my dark skin, for the sun looked down on me. My brothers’ anger scorched me; they made me work all day long in the vineyards, so I did not have time to care for my own vineyard, to cultivate my own body." (SoS 1:6 - VOICE)
