LIFE RACE.
All that surrounds the survival of humanity pushes us into running even without knowing what's setting us on a race, nor do we know how to run effectively, nor the end to which we're running. All we know is that we must run. Humanity in different phases of life is constantly being set in a race by different factors, which include: parents' desires, society, the educational system, and peer pressure, to mention but a few, and there seems to be no end to this frantic race.
Have you ever asked yourself these questions before:
• Why am I running?
• Where am I heading?
• How do I run effectively?
If you can't adequately provide substantial answers to those questions, you're at the mercy of the pressures posed to you by the factors listed above.
WHY AM I RUNNING?
I'm running because I know there's a vision before me. Write down this vision. Write it clearly on tablets, so that anyone who reads it may run. Habakkuk 2:2(Voice)
Have you caught a vision for your life? If not, then you can't know why you need to run. Make it up with God and get your life vision(blueprint) from Him, make it alive in your heart, that's the place of writing it down, and then I can promise you a race with focus.
WHERE AM I HEADING TO?
Vision is not just to set you in a race; it gives you a clearer picture of where God wants you to reach. Running without vision is just like running into a head-on collision. For Jesus, His God-given vision set before Him a picture of the joy that would be His, raising many sons to glory. So likewise, look away from the natural realm and fasten your gaze on Jesus, who birthed faith within us and who leads us forward into faith’s perfection. Know this, don't just head on to that which is good for you, but rather that which is God for you.
HOW DO I RUN EFFECTIVELY?
In addition, vision energizes you and teaches you how to run effectively as it defines your mission and destination. Effective running includes running with patience, endurance, diligence, and according to God's set time. The race God set you in is not of competition but of a set time. "For the vision points ahead to a time I have appointed; it testifies regarding the end, and it will not lie." Habakkuk 2:3(Voice).
One of the reasons why we don't run effectively is that our pursuit has been initiated by competition and strife, and these will only reveal our level of incompetence and unfitness, bringing about frustration and low self-esteem. Effective running also entails running in the right direction. The vision set you on the right path.
Don't run competitively but rather according to God's timing. Even if there seems to be a delay in reaching the goal, wait! It is for an appointed time.
In your race in life, keep your eyes on Jesus, who both began and finished this race we’re in. Study how he did it. Because he never lost sight of where he was headed—that exhilarating finish in and with God—he could put up with anything along the way: Cross, shame, whatever. And now he’s there, in the place of honor, right alongside God. Heb 12:2,3(MSG)
